20+ People mostly senior executives of Gujarat's IT companies who put their nominations for GESIA Best Innovation Awards 2009 were made to wait for over 2 hours on average in one of the worst managed Awards screening process I have ever seen. That's 40 hours of Executive time.
Almost everyone was invited at 3:15 at Hotel Fortune Landmark. People were asked to sit down in the lounge while there was no clue on when Jury will arrive.
The executives waiting at the lounge were kept in dark and there was absolutely no communication happening whatsoever. There was supposed to be 7 member Jury of which 4 did not turn up and rest of them showed up late. Presentations started at 4:30 and again it was very badly managed as they did not give out schedule on who is next and made everyone to wait again.
After seeing 3 presentors, one of the Jury Mr. Anjaria left as he had to catch a flight for UK to that left only 2 Jury and GESIA president Nirav Shah in the room.
Eventually, even the Jury KPMG guy left as he too had to catch a flight and it was 7:00 PM with 2 more presentors waiting while 3 already left without presenting. They had booked the room only till 6:00PM so at 7:00 PM Mr. Nirav Shah and Mr. Vimal Ambani calls the other two presenters and requests them to come the next day at Vimal House. I was in one of the 2 and after waiting for 3 hours with my other company Director, I was in fumes as not only it was very poorly managed 'circus' show but most of the Jury had left and next day there would only be 1 Jury seeing my presentation. My company had spent at least 12 hours in planning and preparing this presentation and only 1 Jury interested in seeing it?
GESIA President Nirav Shah - you suck. I am not interested to get any more of this. I had earlier too sent you few emails requesting meeting time on different matters but you didn't bother to respond. So what is the use of my membership ? If people like you are at the key positions of organizations like GESIA, we can imagine what promotion will GESIA be giving to the ICT industry in state.
I blasted out at GESIA president Nirav Shah on the entire mismanagment and he had no words.
I was even told by an earlier presentor that he overheard the Jury saying to other Jury - "How can we wrap this up quickly - we already have made a decision"
GESIA Awards 2009 looks like a staged event. I don't know who will be chosen but even if my firm Gloscon is given an award now, we will not accept it.
Its a shame that GESIA does not have a President who value people's time.
