Our Early Education System needs improvement

Exam time and my 9 year old was mumbling is his sleep at 2:00 AM : "Past Participle..Adjective..." It really took me by shock.  It was exam time "First Test"

Why would such a lovely kids be put through so much of exam torture? There are weekly tests, first test, second test, annual exams and fierce competition.  I don't think children should be put through this.  A solid education foundation like increasing their thinking abilities and encouraging for open dialogues would be a better solution rather than having them mug up certain things for exams.

Also I absolutely do not like the Marking system at all. Schools should just have  grades like "A, B and C" - that's all.  Parents have a very bad mentality of comparing their child with other neighboring kids.  Many parents also do not allow children to play or meet relatives during exams. And these kids are less then 10 years old.

I differ a lot from my parents on this as I believe that so long as fundamentals are right, marks do not matter. I spend time with my kid on internet and playing some intellectual games in maths, science, logic, etc and he is just superb in that. When it comes to school tests, if he forgets to write "Rs." in Maths answer against an amount, his mark is deducted even though his answer is right.

At the age of 35, even I am not so perfect to ensure that I keep $ or Rs. against an amount every time.

Life is so stressful nowadays and why to put these little angels through stress in their growing up. Let them enjoy life and learn some basic skills on their own rather than enforcing "Test Mania" on them.

Government just does not have will to change the age old tradition. How different it would be in family if I can spend more time with my kid going out for games, taking him for sports, swimming, in music classes, etc. There is just too much exam stress with him and his mumbling at night makes me go mad that I'm going to kill someone for putting my kid through this. Who that someone is?
